Sexually Transmitted Infection Management
For most women having an abortion is a fairly straightforward procedure, though the presence of a new or existing STI can lead to post abortion complications and infections.
In the clinic we do a genital swab at the time of the procedure to confirm the presence and type of infection. If there is an STI present we commence treatment immediately.
This usually involves administering an antibiotic. We will then follow up with you about further treatments if necessary and awareness to prevent any further infections or problems.
